Dear Grizzly Families,
On behalf of the Portola Springs PTA, I am very excited to welcome you all to the 2018-2019 school year! As your new PTA President, I am eager to get to know each and every one of you in the coming weeks. I am honored and humbled to serve with a fantastic group of parents on your PTA Board and we are already busily planning an exciting year ahead as we Build G.R.E.A.T Futures with the PTA!
As we enter our fifth year as a school we have a few tried and true traditions we are proud to continue, like our jog-a-thon, multicultural festival and end of year carnival. In addition, you can expect some new and exciting opportunities for our community to grow and create new traditions to carry forward into the future. In fact, I would like to take this opportunity to personally invite you to our very first family fun event – our Annual Back to School Meet and Greet! Our Meet and Greet will be held on Tuesday, August 21st from 4:00-6:00pm in the MPR. This event offers the opportunity to meet the PTA board and other PTA members as well as our fantastic principal, Mrs. Bricker. This year's meet and greet is a luau themed event, and there will be photo opportunities, fun games for the kids, popcorn, water, and popsicle give-a-ways, and the chance to purchase some of our brand new spirit wear to wear on the first day of school. All those who attend will also receive their child's class assignment at the event! For our new families, we are also offering tours of the outside of our campus with helpful information like, where to drop off, where students line up in the morning, where are the lunch tables, etc... We hope to see all of you there !
While all of this is fun, our most important job is to support our faculty and administration in providing an enriching and well rounded education for all of our students. In this way, our PTA funds our TK & Kindergarten Arts program, a school wide PE program, funding for field trips, assemblies, and technology for our classrooms, just to name a few.
The primary way to make this the best year for you and your family, and our community at large, is to join the PTA! This is your chance to be a member of a great organization that funds these important programs and many more fun, community building activities. Your support enhances your child (ren)'s experiences at our school. We are also always looking for new ideas, so if you have any suggestions, please reach out to me or another board member. I encourage you to get involved! Joining and volunteering with the PTA is the BEST way to get connected to our school and our community at large. When you join the PTA, you are not obligated to attend all meetings nor volunteer; you can participate as much or as little as you would like or are able, finding a perfect balance that's right for you!
